While connected to the internet, you can take advantage of keeping your system synchronized to Atomic Clock time. For the following to work you will need to make sure you have rdate installed.
While connected to the internet open a console and type su to get root privileges, next type the following command:
rdate -s clock-1.cs.cmu.edu && hwclock --systohc
(The rdate command updates your system time, then the hwclock command updates the bios clock).
If you have an always on cable internet connection you can add the command line above to the end of /etc/rc.d/rc.local.
