Wheel Mouse

If you missed the part about setting up your wheel mouse when you installed Mandrake, just open the Mandrake Control Center and choose "Hardware" - "Mouse" and select the generic scroll mouse, save and exit. Next, restart the X server with Ctrl-Alt-Backspace for the changes to take effect.

For nostalgia, here's the old way to do it:

If using XFree 3x:

Open the /etc/X11/XF86Config file with a text editor, scroll down to the pointer section and change it to look like the following:

Section "Pointer"

   Protocol "IMPS/2"
   Device "/dev/psaux"
# Emulate3Buttons
   Buttons 5
   ZAxisMapping 4 5

EndSection

If using XFree 4x:

Open the /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file with a text editor, scroll down to the pointer section and change it to look like the following:

# Pointer section

    Section "InputDevice"
    Identifier "Mouse1"
    Driver "mouse"
    Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
    Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
    Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
# Option "Emulate3Buttons"

EndSection

Next, you'll need to restart the X server with Ctrl-Alt-Backspace for the changes to take effect.
